The RIVERA COUNTRY CLUB located at 1250 Capri Drive in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California was used in at least two episodes of THE ROCKFORD FILES TV Show. These episodes were: The Farnsworth Stratagem (1975) & The Kirkoff Case (1974). The Kirkoff Case episode had special guest star (a very young) James Woods.
ABOVE TWO PHOTOS: The sexy and beautiful Linda Evans starred in "The Farnsworth Stratagem" and played the role of con-artist Audrey Wyatt... The Rockford Files TV Show always had a knack for having hot sexy female special guest stars.
Most teenage boys in the 1970's had a big crush on Linda Evans but for some reason I was really sweet on actress Pat Finley who played Sgt. Dennis Becker's wife, Peggy Becker. I always though she was smoking hot... So to Pat Finley... YOU ARE FRICKEN BEAUTIFUL!

ABOVE PHOTO: Dennis Becker attempts to get hotel rooms for his wife and Jim Rockford after buying into THE BRADLEY HOTEL. Needless to say they didn't get any rooms and Dennis got hoodwinked in the deal.
ABOVE PHOTO: James Rockford took on the identity of J.W. Farnsworth, an oil drilling tycoon to help save his best friend Dennis Becker.
ABOVE PHOTO: James Rockford was confronted by Mafia mobsters living at THE BRADLEY HOTEL.
ABOVE PHOTO: The real identity of THE BRADLEY HOTEL is the world famous RIVERA COUNTRY CLUB located at 1250 Capri Drive in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California.
ABOVE PHOTO: In the episode "The Farnsworth Stratagem" there is a scene where James Rockford and Audrey Wyatt meet with attorney Beth Davenport at a small outdoor café. Based on the scene's footage - you can see the old Mayberry Lincoln Mercury Ford Dealer down the street and that white house seen in the above photo (upper right hand corner) I was able to pinpoint this location as the 4097 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood California. The corner of Lankershim Blvd and Landale Street.
The name of this café was Andy's Kitchen
Thanks to TERRY GUY for the exact location and name of this restaurant!
CORRECTION: While it is true that the Andy's Kitchen photo is on Lankershim Blvd, it is not at the corner of Landale. It is at the corner of Chiquita St and Lankershim across the street from the old Toyota dealership next to the Universal Bar and Grill (UBG). As a kid, I had many many wonderful burgers, hot dogs, and fries at Andy's

It's very easy to find out any matter on web as compared to books, as I found this article at this web page.

I think you've solved a mystery for me. I'm pretty sure the screen cap of Rockford and the ladies at the cafe shows them at Andy's Burgers on Lankershim Blvd, that can be seen in my Flickr page photo at https://www.flickr.com/photos/28917085@N04/14513116389. Andy's had a photo on display of James Garner at the stand for the Rockford shoot, but I never knew which episode it was. Thanks for helping to solve the riddle.
ReplyDeleteBy the by, the photo of the Bob's Big Boy from "The Oracle Wore a Cashmere Suit" also came from my Flickr site.
For another location used in "The Kirkoff Case," I posted this to the Garner Fan Page several months ago. You can use this if you want. It is the house on Longworth Drive (the house number is visible in the episode) in the scene near the end of the show where Rockford chases the bad guy onto a golf course, which is the Riviera Country Club.

The Farnsworth Stratagem was being filmed at the Riviera when my wife was selecting a wedding venue. She had narrowed it down to the Riviera and was to meet her father there to make the final decision and work out the details. Little did she know that her father would pull up when the oil well scene was being filmed.
ReplyDeleteA large oil drilling rig was at the center of the drive circle and oil workers all around. My Father in Law thought to himself we can’t have a large wedding here with an oil well in the front and all this commotion. After finding a place to park he soon realized it was a TV shoot and was assured that there would be no oil well and no machinery on the site the day of the wedding.
The wedding took place October 4 1975 with 150 guests and no oil well. It was a great event!
You're still married, and haven't strangled each other after all this time???
